Greetings readers and fellow travelers!
Marjorie is foremost a novel writer but has been known to put out an essay, short story, and poem or two. She's working on novel No. 12, another historical fiction. Her writing includes mystery, science fiction, and historical fiction.
She used to live and write twenty miles east of Burns, Oregon, the dry side of the state. At 4200 feet the region is high desert country and known as the Oregon frontier. The county is comprised of 10,000 square miles and 7,000 people. That translates to a lot of wide-open spaces, big sky, sunshine, rim rock, sage brush, and Belding’s ground squirrels. It is perfect space for a writer. That sojourn came to a natural end, and she now lives in south central Pennsylvania, her country of origin.
Marjorie’s utopian science fiction (no zombies allowed) is a series called the Deovolante Space Opera. It’s a spoofy look at human beings, based on the premise that life, of course, exists in other galaxies, planets, universes. There are only good aliens in this series.
Her mysteries are set in exotic places like Copan, Cyprus, and Washington DC. One is the Fiona Marlowe series set in frontier Oregon. Historical fiction includes a romance, Wings of the Wind, set in Galveston, Texas in 1850. Her latest historical fiction is Wings of the Dawn, a tale of two cousins who travel the overland trail to California in 1853. Her current work in progress, Wing to Soar, the third in the Wings series, is set in San Francisco in 1868.
Her collection of rural poems - Living in the Middle of Novel and Wondering Why - was published in July, 2021 by Synchronized Chaos. See http://synchchaos.com/poetry-from-marjorie-thelen-2/
A short story, The Last White Woman Alive, was published in Synchronized Chaos in November 2021. See https://synchchaos.com/short-story-from-marjorie-thelen/
